A story I remember about Aotea is that it was the Gift R?aumoko gave to Rangi (Sky), Papa (Earth) and Tangaroa (Ocean). The intention of this gift was to bring peace to this unsettled world. Aotea is only found in New Zealand and is prized by the people of K?ti Mahaki/ Makaawhio. The nature of this particular Aotea ( reminded me) of stories of how the sky was divided into layers. Some say T?ne Climbed these heavens, others give credit to T?whaki. Such stories made me reflect on how the heavens guide us.
